New Jersey Foot & Ankle Center Hosts Electronic Waste Drive for CASA for Children of Bergen County

Released July 2, 2013

Oradell— According to Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) for Children case supervisor Chrystal Henion, more than 100,000 children are reported abused or neglected in New Jersey.

Dr. Daniel Margolin, DPM and staff at the New Jersey Foot and Ankle Center will be running an ink cartridge and used cell phone drive to help the children in CASA for Children of Bergen County.

CASA for Children is an independent, non-profit organization comprised of professionals and volunteers who advocate for those in foster care.  Their vision is to ensure that children who are victims of physical abuse, sexual abuse, psychological torment or abandonment have a voice in the court proceedings that determine their fates.  They would like to make it possible for every abused or neglected child from Bergen County to be served by a well-trained and well-supervised CASA volunteer.

Dr. Margolin is happy to support foster children in need.  “Being a child in today’s world is difficult enough, but what about the children with no formal support system?  It is important to facilitate foster children in their formative years so they have stability and hope for a better life.  The volunteers at CASA are making this happen,” said Dr. Daniel Margolin, DPM of New Jersey Foot and Ankle Center.

Anyone can donate to this cause, by dropping off used ink cartridges and cell phones to New Jersey Foot and Ankle Centers.  This will be helping the environment by recycling, as well as assisting the children of CASA Bergen County to be moved towards safe and permanent homes.

Other donations that are being accepted:
Old or Used:
MP3 Players
Digital Cameras
GPS Devices
Laptops
Printer Paper
Binders
Please bring donations to New Jersey Foot and Ankle Center 550 Kinderkamack Road, Suite 202, Oradell, NJ 07649 until July 31.  If you have any questions please call 201-261-9445.

Town News Proclaims: "You've got a foot doctor in the family"

Tending to Business: NJ Foot and Ankle Center in Oradell

MAY 2, 2013
By Aimee La Fountain, Town News Correspondent

"Treat people how you would treat a family member" is the philosophy of Dr. Dan Margolin's practice, NJ Foot and Ankle Center in Oradell.

Margolin moved his office from Somerset to Oradell in 2000. He's board certified in American Podiatric Surgery and podiatric orthopedics and medicine, and has served as chairman of the Department of Podiatric Surgery at St. Peter's Hospital in New Brunswick for more than three years.

Initially, Margolin wanted to be a veterinarian. When his grandmother introduced him to her podiatrist, it inspired him to pursue his current career.

"I owe it to my grandmother," he said. "We let anyone aspiring to podiatry come in for a day and welcome people in to give back."

Although Margolin performs numerous surgeries, he doesn't define himself as surgically-focused.

"I'd rather be conservative and do surgery when I have to," he said. "I'm much more holistically-oriented than medically. I'd rather use vitamins than medicine."

Some of the most common conditions Margolin treats are heel pain, plantar fasciitis, and nail fungus.

Margolin also started Shoes for the Needy, a program that runs from September through March to collect new or slightly worn shoes. Margolin had the idea after he noticed various patients unable to wear new shoes due to foot pain. He offered to donate the shoes instead of people throwing them away.

"We had hundreds of shoes show up," Margolin said.

An average of about 10,000 pairs of shoes are collected a year. Children's shoes are the highest in demand.

On a particularly serendipitous occasion, a man found a pair of work boots in his size that he needed for a new job.

"You don't realize sometimes the effect something small has on someone," Margolin said. "[The program] has been going on for 26 years. I'm proud of it."

NJ Foot and Ankle Center's patients cover an equal amount of women, men, and children. Margolin said, "The most common [age group is] boys ages 10 to 13 who get growing pains with tendons and bones in the foot which don't keep up with each other, especially with sports."

Margolin puts a high priority on patient satisfaction.

"We do our best and deliver what we promise," he said. "Our goal is to give you more than you expect."

NJ Foot and Ankle Center regularly issues surveys to make sure patients' needs are being met.

"We [have] a very specific protocol and follow it [so that] we don't miss much," Margolin said. "Quality is my lifelong ambition."

Margolin and his staff at NJ Foot and Ankle strive to make the office a home-like setting. "Our slogan is, 'You've got a foot doctor in the family,'" he said. "We try to live up to that."

NJ Foot and Ankle Center is located at 550 Kinderkamack Road, Suite 202, in Oradell. For more information, call 201-261-9445.

New Jersey Foot and Ankle Center Delcares Tessanne Chin Day

New Jersey Foot and Ankle Center was recently featured in the Jamaican Observer for declaring June 24 Tessanne Chin Day.  View the original article here: http://m.jamaicaobserver.com/mobile/entertainment/US-fans-give-Tess-push_17090613

"Tessanne Chin's latest album, Count On My Love, is receiving a boost from unlikely quarters: the American husband-and-wife team of Dr. Dan and Amy Margolin.

Released by the Universal Music Group on Tuesday, the 10-track set is part of her prize for winning the US televised talent show, The Voice.

The Margolins, who operate New Jersey Foot and Ankle Center in Oradell, declared Thursday 'Tessanne Chin Day' and distributed 30 albums they had purchased to clients who visited their place of business.

"I have never really got into another artiste like this in a long time. It takes a lot for me to get into another artiste. After she won [The Voice], I watched her videos and listened to In Between Words (her independent debut). I read about her life and her family. I also got familiar with her older sister [Tami] and listened to her beautiful voice too. My husband loves country & western music, but when she sang Bridge Over Troubled Water, it brought a tear to his eye. That is what did it for him, that song," Amy Margolin told the Jamaica Observer.

A registered nurse with over two decades of experience, Amy said she and her family met the singer at the Oracabessa Festival in Queens, New York, in May.

"She's such a sweet person. I got to meet her husband too, and her manager Sharon Burke," she said.  Margolin sees the Jamaican artiste as a role model.

"I am a mother and there are a lot of problems with role models who kids are looking up to and I just think she is a very good example for people, on how to behave, and being a grateful and positive person as opposed to corrupting the kids," she said.

The registered nurse said she was also impressed when she read that Chin performed at an Anti-Defamation League event hosted by Touched By An Angel actress Roma Downey and her TV executive husband Mark Burnett.

"I was very honoured that Tessanne would sing at that because my husband's family was in the Holocaust. It feels amazing that she did that. I like the things that she stands for. She's more than a singer, she encompasses helping people," said Margolin.

The Voice recently wrapped up its sixth season, but there has not been a breakout star. Margolin hopes Chin will fill that slot.

"After she won it [The Voice], I didn't want her to go. I wanted to do something more to make her popular, to make her make it, because the other prior winners haven't gone as far as they should have. If you want the person to be successful, you have to follow through and buy her music and support her," Margolin said.

When asked if she had been to any of The Voice tours, she responded: "Personally, I am just waiting on her [Chin] solo tour."

Her favourite tracks on Count On My Love is Everything Reminds Me of You and Loudest Silence.

"They are like 10 little children, they are all so good," she said.

Up to late yesterday, the album was at number 60 on the iTunes Top 100 Album Chart."
